Carla Garman was appointed Director of Sales for De Vere Venues East Midlands Conference Centre & Orchard Hotel in December 2014. Having worked in the industry since 1996, Carla brings a wealth of experience to the role. We caught up with her to find out more about her new appointment at the venues, which are located on the University of Nottingham campus.
What does your role entail?
My main focus for the venue is to look ahead into 2016 onwards and bring to Nottingham events that have previously been in other cities ideally with a link to the medical, educational or environmental industry. Sport will be a huge focus for the University with a new £40m sports centre due to launch on campus in the near future.
What are you looking forward to about the new role?
Dealing with the fantastic experienced team in a property and venue I am proud to say I work at.

Friendly, approachable, reliable, knowledgeable and understanding.
What are your initial impressions of The Orchard hotel?
The hotel is truly breath-taking every morning I drive through the beautifully kept grounds of the University and up the drive way and smile, I smile because the hotel not only looks great but I know I’m going into a fantastic team as well.
