Let’s Meet – David Rowley – General Manager at Hilton Nottingham

In this month’s Let’s Meet feature we speak to David Rowley – General Manager at Hilton Nottingham – about his early career days, about Hilton Nottingham as a venue for conferences and events, his favourite places in Nottingham, and much more.

Where did it all begin?

I started with Hilton Hotels at a very youthful 16 years of age as an apprentice chef, and have never looked back!

What do you think makes Hilton Nottingham unique for hosting events?

The fantastic city centre location combined with our building’s Victorian charm, and committed and experienced events team.

What’s the most memorable event you have worked on so far?

We are fortunate to host a large number of sporting teams at the hotel. Recently we had the pleasure of hosting two international ladies football teams, and it was a real experience for everyone here at the hotel. The professionalism of both teams together with some really specific dietary requirements were a really enjoyable challenge for us to work on.

What’s your favourite area in the hotel?

Bric Bar & Kitchen is a great place to be. During the day, it offers a great view of the very busy Milton Street and at night has a great cocktail bar atmosphere.

What do you like to do in Nottingham in your spare time?

As a young family, we love walking along the River Trent, but if you asked my kids I suspect Planet Bounce would be near the top of the list!
