A  Glittering ‘Unique Connections’ Charity Fundraising Dinner Is To Be Held At The Galleries Of Justice Museum In The Heart Of Nottingham’s Lace Market On Thursday March 19th.  This glamorous event will have the magnificent Shire Hall as its backdrop, with dinner being served in the imposing Grand Jury Room of the award-winning museum.

IMG_8270Nicola Burley, Executive Director of the Galleries of Justice Museum, explained: “We are holding our fundraising dinner in memory of a very dear friend and supporter of our charity, Pauline Tutt who died before Christmas.  We know that she would have loved to have been with us on this occasion and she would have entered into the spirit of our 1920s themed dinner – complete with feather boa!  She most certainly would have enjoyed the live music and entertainment. We shall all be raising a glass to her.  Pauline was a great advocate of our fundraising campaign: Help a Nottinghamshire Child is a pioneering campaign which aims to provide free citizenship and legal education to children living in Nottingham City and County. The purpose of ‘Help a Nottinghamshire Child’ is to teach all young people about the law and what happens if they break the law, the consequences of their actions on the wider community and about the careers available to them within the justice system.  This fundraising campaign allows schools to access vital education… free of charge!    The education programmes and resources are provided by the National Centre for Citizenship and the Law (NCCL) at the Galleries of Justice Museum, and they are designed to help develop young people’s understanding of the law and how to live within it; preventing and reducing crime through early intervention and preventative education.  For example: – students from the Westglade Primary School visited the museum and took part in a mock arrest, a mock trial and also some object handling.  Mrs Davies from the school said: ‘The day was informative and very enjoyable, lots of hands on activities which the children enjoyed.  The trial was a complete success allowing children to experience the formal court procedures and they learnt a lot – demonstrating this through questions and answers.’

Nicola went on to say:  ‘This is to be such a special event for us and we are honoured and delighted to announce that the headline sponsors of our fundraising event are risk management and insurance broking advisers JLT Specialty; and Arch Communicationshigh quality, specialist PR and marketing services.  We have also been very fortunate to have supporting sponsorship provided by ‘The F Word’ financial training providers ‘Mazars’ who spcialises in audit, tax and advisory services and Rothera Dowson who has been providing high quality legal advice for nearly 200 years– all of whom are very good friends of the museum and to whom we are indebted.’

As specialist insurance brokers and risk management consultants, JLT Specialty provide market leading industry knowledge and expertise to some of the world’s largest companies who are able to access the market strength and wide ranging skills of the whole of the JLT Group in the UK, and its network of international offices in over 135 countries worldwide. This collaborative and client driven approach has earned JLT Specialty an enviable reputation within their specialist sectors which include retail, engineering & manufacturing,  construction,  communication technology & media and food & agriculture.  Sally Swann, who is the head of the Nottingham Risk Practice said: “The Nottingham office of JLT Specialty opened in 2012 and we have benefited enormously from the support we have received from the business community.  Sponsoring this event is our way of giving something back to those who have contributed to our success, whilst also helping a very worthwhile cause.”
