Couples may soon have the chance to get married in the majestic surroundings of Nottingham Castle.

The site has recently applied for a licence to host wedding ceremonies. Subject to approval (decision expected in June), weddings will be allowed to take place in The Castle Bastion, ideal for small intimate ceremonies, as well as a number of magnificent rooms in the main museum (including the Long Gallery) and the Castle Bandstand in the wonderful gardens.

A group of lucky brides to be got a feel for the heritage site as a wedding venue yesterday when it held its first wedding fair in over 25 years.

Rachel Dewsbury from the City Council’s heritage sites, said “We were delighted to host a free wedding fair at the magnificent Nottingham Castle and are looking forward to it becoming a welcome addition alongside Wollaton Hall and Newstead Abbey as a wedding venue for all seasons. The fair was a great opportunity for couples to meet with some of the region’s finest suppliers while seeing the variety of beautiful rooms and grounds we will shortly have available for couples wanting to get married or have a civil partnership.”

We look forward to the news on the wedding ceremonies licence. In the meantime you can find out more about what Nottingham Castle has to offer by clicking here.
