This much-loved building facing Wellow’s village greens and famous Maypole was built in 1854 as the village school, but has also served Wellow in its time as a church and village hall, a place for meetings, learning arts and crafts, as a wedding reception venue, the Mayqueen banquet hall, as a girl guide hall and much much more. It is a place for all occasions.

The Schoolroom can comfortably host 50 people and its current equipment includes:
Heating through 5 radiators; disabled sized WC; Kitchenette equipped with kettle, top quality crockery, cutlery and glasses (including champagne flutes) for 40 people; 40 comfortable chairs (additional chair hire available); 3 large and 4 medium length Gopak tables; 3 poseur tables; conference tables; a 203cm wall-mounted projector screen, projector and projector trolley table.
No sale of alcohol licence.
Please ask when making your initial enquiry if you require car-parking facilities – for anymore than 3 cars, the Schoolroom’s team can help you make arrangements.
The venue’s location is close to Newark train stations – Northgate and Newark Castle, and an accessible distance from the A1.
Current rates for hiring are as follows:
– For residents of Wellow there is a special rate of £15.00 per hour.
-Non residents £20.00 per hour
-Seminars, business conferences, fitness classes, adult education and commercial organisations: Negotiable
-Receptions of all varieties: £250 per event/day. (£200 for local residents)
